Tripura Assam: Police foil illegal entry attempts by Bangladeshi nationals

Agartala: The Border Security Forces in Tripura have detained two Rohingya nationals and seized narcotics worth Rs 4 lakh. 

A Press Release issued from BSF Tripura said that based on specific information, regarding the presence and movement of illegal migrants in the Karbook area, an operation was launched.

During the operation, the team tracked two suspicious persons.

On checking them, it was found that they were suspected illegal migrants and later were ascertained to be Rohingya migrants.

They were apprehended at the Karbook bus stand under Gomati District by BSF troops of BOP Bhatiabari while they were planning to exfiltrate into Bangladesh. 

The BSF said that noth the apprehended migrants were residents of a Rohingya refugee camp located in Cox Bazar, Bangladesh.

During the operation, the BSF also seized Indian currency, mobiles and UNHCR cards recovered from their possession.

In addition, troops of BSF Tripura in different operations foiled various attempts of trans-border smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border and seized 1,600 kg of sugar and other contraband items worth Rs 4,76,479.
