Guwahati: At least four houses were gutted in Kanchanpur area of North Tripura district after a major fire erupted due to a LPG cylinder blast.

The houses include a candle factory and a shop. The fire spread after a cylinder in one of the buildings exploded.

On being informed, the local police and fire tenders soon rushed to the spot not before the candle factory and a few houses were already reduced to ashes.

The firefighters toiled hard to douse the blaze.

A few families were rendered homeless after their houses were gutted in the inferno forcing them to stay at the houses of their friends and relatives.

Property worth several lakh of rupees was reportedly reduced to ashes, though the actual damage is yet to be ascertained.

However, no injury or casualty has been reported due to the incident.
