The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), alliance partner of BJP in Tripura government has on Wednesday demanded one more Cabinet minister’s post for them.

IPFT president and state revenue minister Narendra Chandra Debbarma informed this to the media.

He said, “IPFT leaders met with BJP’s working president J P Nadda at Delhi. And we told him about our demand.”

They also have written a letter to J P Nadda demanding one more minister in the Cabinet.

At present four seats are lying vacant in Tripura Cabinet.

N C Debbarma in a press conference said that there are a total 12 seats in the Cabinet last year during the formation of government.

Nine ministers were included in the Cabinet, among them were seven from BJP and only two were from IPFT.

Three months back health minister Sudip Roy Barman was dropped from the Cabinet and now the Cabinet strength is only eight.

So a total of four seats are vacant and IPFT should get one of them, according to Debbarma.

In the 60-member Tripura Assembly, IPFT has eight MLAs and BJP has 36 MLAs.

After Sudip Roy Barman was dropped from the Cabinet, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb told he will reshuffle the Cabinet.

At that time he also told that new faces will be included in the Cabinet on the basis of performance.

But he did not tell exact time period for reshuffle the cabinet.

From IPFT, president N C Debbarma and general secretary Mevar Kumar Jamatia are in the Cabinet.

The political analyst of state, the TTAADC (Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council) election will be held on next year.

Before the election IPFT has started pressure politics, that’s why they are demanding one more Cabinet minister.
