In order to encourage international business in Tripura, the BJP-led government has planned to construct 2,200 flats and an international shopping mall at Agartala.

Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this while addressing the programme ‘Aangikaar – A campaign for change management’ at Agartala Town Hall.

Informing about the ANGIKAR programme on his Twitter handle on Thursday, chief minister Deb said, “Delighted to inaugurate State Level ANGIKAAR programme, organised by Urban Development Department at Agartala Town Hall today with other dignitaries of #Tripura.”

“Discussed wide range of issues related to Urban Development of Tripura for the convenience of people of our State,” he added.

The objective of the ‘Angikaar’ campaign is to bring the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) under one fold of other central government implemented schemes.

According to reports, chief minister Deb said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is determined to provide concrete houses to everyone by 2022.

A media report quoted chief minister Deb as saying: “Through Tripura Urban Planning and Development authority, our state government has planned to build 1,000 flats in three places in the city.”

“The places are Don Bosco, Dhaleswar, Colonel Chowmuhani and 1200 flats will be constructed at Old Central Jail,” said Deb.

The chief minister reportedly announced that now in Tripura buildings can be constructed up to the 5th floor.

The chief minister also announced that the state government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has planned to set up two new hospitals including a child care hospital and an eye specialty hospital.

The report also quoted the chief minister as saying: “On one hand, as revenue collection has been increased, on the other hand, 30, 000 water connections have been given to the people of the state through Atal Jal Dhara Mission.”
