Tripura is facing flight crisis because of which Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday assured to arrange some flights from Agartala to Delhi and Kolkata.

While inaugurating a Kalipuja at Shanitala near old Motor Stand, Deb said “The price hike of air tickets created a lot of problem for the people. I am trying my best to reintroduce some airline services within next 15 days”.

He further informed that the government has taken initiatives to introduce at least two flights from Agartala to Kolkata and Agartala to Delhi. “The Central Government is also looking into the matter. The state government is also adopting policies so that flights could always provide services in the state,” added the chief minister.

Spice Jet Airlines withdrew all its services from Agartala airport for past two months due to huge revenue loss because of lack of business in the state. Indigo Airlines flights 6E139 and 6E833 , carrying passengers from Agartala to Kolkata everyday at 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. respectively, have also been suspended by Indigo Airlines due to ‘fog’ issue, reports TOI.

This resulted in flight fares increase from Agartala to Kolkata and with Indigo’s decision to stop service, people of the state will be affected Tripura is very much dependent on airways especially the Agartala- Kolkata service and vice-versa.
