In the aftermath of the massive storms that lashed the state of Tripura over the last 24 hours, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday asked the administration to go all out in helping the affected people.
Deb while expressing concern over the damage caused by the storm directed all concerned departments and officials to be on their toes and extend all possible help to the affected people on priority basis.
The chief minister on Saturday also had series of parleys with the district administrations’ officials to ascertain the extent of damages caused by the storm. He asked the officials to maintain close coordination between the district administration and concerned departments – power, DWS and road connectivity.
Meanwhile, state social welfare minister Santana Chakma visited some affected areas of Bishalgarh sub-division to know the ground reality. She also visited Gakulnagar Anganwadi Centre where flood victims are being given shelter.
Some of the worst hit areas in the storm include Champamura, Debipur, Bhatibari, Gakulnagar, Dakshin Madhupur and Harishnagar areas in Bishalgarh sub-division.
According to reports, around 200 families have been affected due to flood triggered by Friday night’s heavy shower and on Saturday morning’s gusty storm.
Meanwhile, as many as ten relief camps were established in West district to provide shelter to thepeople of the flood affected areas.
