Agartala: The Border Security Force (BSF) deployed in Tripura has detained two Bangladeshi nationals and seized Yaba addictive tablets valued at over Rs 40 lakh in two separate operations.

The BSF in a press statement said its troops apprehended the Bangladeshi nationals in Unakoti district while they were attempting to sneak into India by crossing the border fence.

According to the BSF, the duo hails from Bangladesh’s Sylhet district.

In another operation in Sepahijala district, BSF personnel seized 4,000 Yaba addictive tablets estimated to be worth Rs 40 lakh in the grey market, it said.

On the other hand, the BSF along with the forest protection unit destroyed ganja plants over 15 acres in the district’s Sonamura area, it added.

The BSF is maintaining a high level of alertness along the international border to prevent infiltration and making optimal efforts to ensure a drug-free society, the statement further said.
