Tripura: BSF destroy over 65,000 cannabis plants in Sepahijala

The BSF in coordination with other law enforcement agencies is making optimal efforts to maintain a drug-free society

Agartala: The Border Security Force (BSF) in collaboration with the Tripura Police and forest department destroyed over 65,000 mature cannabis plants in the state’s Sepahijala district on Wednesday.

The BSF in a press statement said that it received information about the cannabis cultivation in a forested area, located near Gilamura village under Sonamura sub-division, of the district.

Based on the information, the BSF along with the Tripura Police and the state forest department, soon launched a joint operation.

During the operation, the team destroyed over 65,000 mature cannabis plants that had been cultivated on 10 hectares of land.

The plantations, on five different plots, were destroyed by being uprooted and burned.
