In a bid to realise the ambitious dream of ‘Digital Arunachal’, the first High Level Telecom Monitoring Committee (HLMC) meeting of the State was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh Satya Gopal at the latter’s office in Itanagar.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary called for a concerted and dedicated workforce from all the Telecom Service and Infrastructure Providers in Arunachal Pradesh for last mile connectivity in a remote State like Arunachal Pradesh.

The timelines and roadmaps were reviewed in respect of the projects viz., planned 407 Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSATs) and 1893 towers under Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), planned 773 VSATs under Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL), Optical Fibre Cable laying work under RailTel and 149 planned towers under Airtel along national highways.
Emphasising the importance of mobile connectivity, he asked the telecom service and information providers not to deviate from the set target and timelines which were decided in the meeting. The committee finalised the application fees and rental charges for setting up of telegraph infrastructure as per requirement of Right of Way (RoW) guidelines of the State and also resolved various issues pertaining to telecom projects.
Gopal further assured that the Government departments concerned including district administrations will provide all necessary supports and assistance required to expedite their projects in the districts. Among others East and West Divisional Commissioners, Secretary, Special Secretary and Director of IT and Communication, representative from Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), regional heads of various service providers like Airtel, RailTel, National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Tower and Infrastructure Providers Association (TAIPA), Bharti Infratel Limited, Vodafone Idea Limited, Reliance Jio Infocom, BSNL, Network Engineering and Traffic Forwarding (NETF) and Air Traffic Control (ATC) Telecom Infrastructure Private Limited were present in the meeting.
