The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursdaythunderstorms with lightning and squall are likely at isolated places over the Northeast in the next five days.
The IMD predicted heavy rainfall and lighting in several places over south Assam and Meghalaya within this period.

The National Weather Forecasting Centre of the IMD further said that thunderstorms with lightning and squall are likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
“Thunderstorms with lightning, hail and squall with speed reaching 50-60 km per hour at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya,” the IMD said.
The IMD also predicted lightning, hail and gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50 km per hour at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Moreover, lightning and gusty winds with speed reaching 30-40 km per hour are likely to occur at isolated places over Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh and Kerala.
Arunachal Pradesh is also likely to witness heavy rainfall at isolated places on Friday and Saturday.
“On Monday thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds with wind speed reaching 40-50 km per hour likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Kerala and Maharastra,” the IMD said.
