Rio made this statement while addressing a thanksgiving service to mark the election of NDPP-led PDA candidate H Chuba Chang from the Noksen Assembly constituency in the bye-elections held recently.
Neiphiu Rio said that the NDPP-led PDA Government is putting all efforts to resolve the decades-long Naga Political issue during the tenure of the present State Government.
Rio also urged all the stakeholders in the Naga Political issue to “expedite the negotiations” and secure an early solution.

Meanwhile, separate flag and constitution continues to be the bone of contention between the NSCN-IM and Government of India (GoI) in regards to reaching a solution to the Naga Political issue.
Speaking on the deadlock in the talks over Naga Political issue, Naga Hoho General Secretary Elu Ndang said that the people in Nagaland are keeping a close watch on every move of the GoI.
“We are all in a tight situation and there are two school of thoughts. The NSCN-IM is saying that without a flag and constitution there cannot be any lasting solution whereas the NNPGs are willing to sign the agreement and the GoI is not clear,” said Ndang.
He added that people have been made to understand that the Prime Minister is adamant on his Government’s stand that there will be only one flag and only one constitution.
