Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi on Tuesday said Tezpur has huge tourism potential and it needs to be harnessed fully.
“Assam is very rich in culture and heritage and Tezpur has huge tourism potentiality. Air connectivity, internet connectivity and heritage sites are to be improved to attract tourists,” Governor Mukhi told reporters here.

Tezpur, known as the cultural capital of Assam, is around 184 kilometres from Guwahati.
The Governor also laid stress on proper implementation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA). SBA is a campaign in India that aims to clean up the streets, roads and infrastructure of India’s cities, smaller towns, and rural areas.
Tezpur is known as the cleanest city of Assam because of its clean and green view. The city attracts every visitor with its beautiful parks, hillocks, sceneries and well established hotels.

Governor Mukhi during his visit to Tezpur also interacted with the officials and staff of Sonitpur DC office. Sonitpur DC Monoj Kumar Deka and SP PP Singh were also present during the interaction programme.
Earlier, Mukhi attend a programme organised as a part of Industrial and Business Trade Fair in Tezpur. He released a souvenir published on the occasion.
