Manipur is experiencing a cold wave with the mercury plunging to 0.58 degree Celsius in Senapati while 3.6 degree Celsius in Imphal on Sunday, according to Directorate of Environment, state climate cell weather reports.
Similarly Ukhrul and Churachandpur district headquarters also recorded a minimum temperature of 2.5 degree Celsius and 3.1 degree Celsius respectively.

Residents in Imphal continue to feel chilly wind since the last two days. The maximum temperature recorded was 22.2 degrees, sources in state Directorate of Environment said.
The minimum temperature in the state, which has been hovering around 4 to 5 degree Celsius since beginning of this month till last week, has gradually gone down since Saturday, sources added.
Severe cold wave conditions also prevailed in hill districts headquarters particularly in Ukhrul and Senapati for the last three-four days. With the sudden fall in temperature, charcoal traders are making brisk business as usage of charcoal has gone up.

On January 8, 2018, Imphal became the second coldest capital city in the Northeastern region after Shillong. On that day mercury plunged to 3 degree according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reports. Shillong recorded a minimum temperature of (-) 0.7 degree Celsius. Though the cyclonic circulation over Meghalaya and neighbourhood extending up to 2.1 km above sea level persists, the temperature is likely to be stable in the coming days till February 3, IMD report says.
