Under the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, the Government has taken the nationwide initiative, Swachh Survekshan Grameen – 2018 (SSG-18) for assessment on the basis of qualitative and quantitative sanitation (swachhata) parameters across all the districts in India from August 1 to August 31, 2018.
As part of the nationwide initiative, the Udalguri District Water and Sanitation Committee also formally launched the SSG-18 at Bishnu Rabha Krishti Sangha in Udalguri on Tuesday.

Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Executive Member (EM) of PHED, Lwmshrao Daimari inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
In his speech, Daimari encouraged the other departments to join hands together in making the district clean as well as an Open Defecation Free(ODF) district.
The programme was also participated by the BTC Speaker Tridip Daimari; MCLA, Bhairabkunda, Ripen Daimari; ADC, Udalguri, Amar Jyoti Barman; Joint Director, Health, Udalguri, T Rahman; SBM staff members, Swachhagrahis, Aanganwadi supervisors, NGOs and SHGs.

The programme also witnessed activities like drama and songs on encouraging people for cleanliness.
To mark the launch of SSG-18, an awareness rally was also conducted in Udalguri town by the officials and participants which was inaugurated by Nodal Officer, SBM(G),Nameswar Tayung.
