To carry forward Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal‘s mission of ‘Green and Clean Assam’, the Department of Forest in collaboration with MyGov Assam, organized an interactive session with the students of Siddhinath Vidyamandir High School in Rangiya.

Keeping the theme as ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, the session aimed at creating and spreading the awareness of a green and pollution free Assam.

The programme started off by a plantation drive.

With the objective of realizing Sonowal’s dream of a pollution free state, officials of the Forest Department along with the team of MyGov Assam interacted with the school students.

ln the session, the students were given an in-depth insight on ways to curb plastic pollution and adoption of eco-friendly alternatives in place of plastic products.

The officials from the Forest Department gave a few vital advice to the students.

The school students were appreciated and encouraged for their efforts in creating craft products using their skill revolving around the theme.

The students had also put forward their various queries on environment before the officials of the Forest Department and the team of MyGov Assam.

The chief guest for the event was Bhabesh Kalita, MoS lrrigation (lndependent) and Revenue.

The other dignitaries present in the event were Y Suryanarayana, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Forest Department along with Ananda Khataniar, environmental activist and brand ambassador of the Forest Department.

While Bhabesh Kalita promised to take up all the necessary measures towards environment conservation, Ananda Khataniar appealed to the students to plant a sapling every year on their birthdays.

Khataniar added that ‘our efforts can control pollution by planting trees on the river banks’.
