The project is an ambitious undertaking by the BRO to connect extremely remote and rugged terrains of the State with thoroughfares that connect them to major roads and highways.

B R Tripathi, chief engineer of project ‘Arunank’ said that the strategic road connecting Tama Chung Chung with the Bidak area in Upper Subansiri was open for public use on January 30 last.

The construction of the road was a herculean task as the terrain was inhospitable and rains lasted for about eight to nine months.

According to Tripathi, the project received a major boost in 2017 when a single span 200-feet bailey bridge was constructed over the turbulent Subansisri River.

“The construction of the critical road began way back in 2009 but had to face several hurdles due to the inhospitable terrains. It is only due to the persistent efforts of the personnel of 23 Border Road Task Force (BRTF) and the engineers that this project has been completed successfully.” Tripathi further said.

“The bailey bridge over the Dadu Siko River connecting Tama Chung Chung with Taksing road in the district was also constructed with great difficulty and with a limited amount of resources and labourers,” said Tripathi.

But despite all challenges, the bridge was made operational and will be open to vehicular traffic even during monsoons.

Despite the looming dangers and challenges, the indomitable spirit of the BRO personnel made sure that the project was completed with the utmost diligence.
