Popular actor Andrew Jack, who appeared in the superhit Star Wars movies, died after contracting COVID-19.
The 76-year-old man, who also worked as a dialect coach, died at a hospital in Surrey on Tuesday.
“Andrew lived on one of the oldest working houseboats on the Thames, he was fiercely independent but madly in love with his wife, also a dialect coach,”Jack’s agent Jill McCullough said in a statement.
Jack’s wife Gabrielle Rogers, who is quarantined in Australia, expressed her grief over the death of her husband.
She tweeted, “We lost a man today. Andrew Jack was diagnosed with coronavirus two days ago. He was in no pain, and he slipped away peacefully knowing that his family was all ‘with’ him. Take care out there, lovers.”
Jack appeared in ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi’ as well as in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ and ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’.
Jack, who worked with over 200 actors in his career, was a supervising dialect coach for the fantasy film series, Lord of the Rings.
He designed and taught the accents for the Greeks and Trojans in Wolfgang Peterson’s Troy.
Many eminent actors and Jack’s fans took to social media to express sorrow over his death.
