Former Health, Food & Civil Supplies Minister of Assam and a senior Congress leader Dr Ardhendu Kr Dey on Saturday came down heavily on Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonbowal and called him ‘mentally ill’ for terming the Congress party and its president Rahul Gandhi as ‘beymaan’ during a press briefing in Delhi.
Addressing a press conference at Hojai on Saturday, Dr Dey said, “Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is mentally ill. He should take treatment and should be admitted to the mental asylum either at Tezpur or Ranchi.”.
The former minister, who is currently the Hojai District Congress president, addressed the media at his residence in Hojai.
Dr Dey said, “Sarbananda Sonowal is nervous as he knows that the BJP will lose the the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with a big margin and as a result his chair and comfort will be in danger.”
He also termed him as a ‘Helicopter Chief Minister’.
“Victory of the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chattisgarh, is a clear-cut indication what the people of India want at present,” Dr Dey added.
He further said, “We have condemned the words spoken by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and BJP State president Ranjeet Das in Delhi during a press conference against the Congress party and party president Rahul Gandhi.”
“It is very shameful that such inappropriate words were used against a 100 years old party, without checking their own background,” Dr Dey said.
Dey also lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for playing with the emotions of the innocent public and humiliating them by not fulfilling any one of the promises he had made in the last Lok Sabha elections.
He also said, “Day by day, everything is becoming expensive.”
Dr Dey said during Congress reign more than 100 welfare schemes were launched, and special emphasis was given on youths’ education.
Bijoy Chakraborty, general secretary, Hojai District Congress Unit; Swapan Kar, former MLA, Lumding were also present in the press meet.
