Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal presented a letter of appreciation to the owner of Manohari Tea Estate of Dibrugarh district on Tuesday for its remarkable success in world tea market recently.

‘Manohari Gold Specialty Tea’, an orthodox variety of the tea garden fetched the highest ever auction price in any auction centre across the world last week at an auction in Guwahati. This special variety scored a record-breaking sum of Rs. 39,001 per kg.

Chief Minister Sonowal while appreciating the quality of the tea also lauded the efforts of the garden authorities in achieving a milestone in India’s tea market. He hoped that success of Manohari Gold would help Assam tea to regain the lost glory and encourage other tea gardens of the state to experiment with their variety also.

Rajan Lohia, owner of the Tea Garden handed over the Chief Minister with a packet of the tea for his inspirational gesture.

Water Resources Minister Keshav Mahanta, chief minister’s media advisor Hrishikesh Goswami, legal advisor Santanu Bharali, additional chief secretary of industry and commerce department Ravi Capoor and Priyanuz Dutta, secretary of Guwahati Tea Auction Centre were present at the time of handing over the appreciation letter to the garden owner.
