Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday claimed that the situation in the state capital Itanagar is limping back to normalcy.
Stating this on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Khandu extended thanks to the local community organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and students’ organisations for extending support to the administration and police.

The Chief Minister also thanked the Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industries for extending their support for resuming of commercial activities in the state capital.
Arunachal Pradesh was on the boil with widespread violence over the proposal of granting permanent certificates (PRCs) to six non-Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APSTs) communities.

The protestors burnt down several vehicles, tried to attack the house of the Arunachal Chief Minister and brunt down the house of Deputy CM Chowna Mein.
The non-APST communities include Deoris, Sonowal Kacharis, Mishings, Adivasis, Gorkhas and Morans.
The Deori, Sonowal Kachari and Mishing communities are enjoying Scheduled Tribe (ST) status in Assam.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Khandu earlier had said certain “forces” were behind the violent
protests in the state over the granting of permanent residential certificate to six non-native communities.
However, following unrest and massive protests across the state, mainly in Itanagar and killing of three protestors in police firing, which escalated the protests, the Arunachal Pradesh government announced that it would not go ahead with granting of PRC to the six communities.
Khandu also sought additional forces from the Centre, which had already sent 1,000 paramilitary personnel to assist the state government in restoring peace.

The Arunachal Chief Minister also reviewed the law and order situation of the state capital on Wednesday with top officials from the state government.
“All measures are being taken to provide safe environment for citizens, for business to flourish and for normal life to continue,” tweeted Khandu.
