Bhutan Film Festival will be held on June 23 and June 24, 2018 at Gangtok as a part of the celebration to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of formal diplomatic relations between Bhutan and India.
The event is being organized by the Ministry of Information & Communications, Royal Government of Bhutan in collaboration with the Film Association of Bhutan with facilitation support from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Royal Government of Bhutan and the Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department Government of Sikkim.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the State Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department secretary, Ambika Pradhan, expressed that it was an honour for the State to host the first ever Bhutan Film Festival.
She added that this would strengthen the bond of two countries and further boosts tourism and business exchanges between two nations. She assured of providing all possible support for the grand success of the film festival.
President of Film Association of Bhutan, Karma Tshering expressed his gratitude to the State for helping in making this film festival a reality and expressed positivity on the success of the upcoming festival.

He said that this would greatly promote and encourage the ties between the two nations and extended invitation to all to be a part of the festival.
It was informed that a total of six popular Bhutanese films will be screened at the auditorium of Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department and Hotel Rendezvous in Gangtok.
The film screenings would be followed by panel discussions with film professionals, producers and directors. The film festival intends to bring together citizens of the two countries, strengthen the friendly relationship and showcase Bhutan’s efforts towards the preservation and promotion of distinctive culture, tradition and language. It also aims to promote tourism and establish collaboration to develop the film industry.
