With just two days left for the foundation day celebration of Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), senior leaders of the ruling SDF party are camping at the Mining Ground near Rangpo in East Sikkim for the past few days to oversee the preparations.
The foundation day celebration will be held on March 4 at the massive ground in Rangpo.
With Assembly elections scheduled for next year, the SDF Day is expected to unveil the party’s electoral programmes and preparedness for 2019 poll battle and its future plans.
The final review meeting for the grand celebration was attended by the ministers, MLAs, party functionaries and workers at Rangpo.
Sikkim Tourism Minister Ugen T Gyatso Bhutia, who is also the president of the celebration committee disclosed that the organizers are more than ready for grand celebration on Sunday.
While interacting with the media, Bhutia said around 8,400 vehicles have been booked for the programme. “More than 2,500 private vehicles are also coming to the venue,” he added.
A total of 10,000 commemorative T-shirts would be distributed on that day to all the participants.
Youths from all four districts are submitting eight important proposals on March 4, sources said.
‘Bhanu Ra Pala’, the famous drama group from Kalimpong, would be performing after the address of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on the occasion.
The play to be staged on that day will feature the two-decade long governance of the SDF government, party sources further said, adding, senior SDF leaders are guiding the drama team on the script and effective delivery of the play.
