COVID-19 situation in Sikkim is deteriorating with every single passing day.
Sikkim has detected 230 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.
Of the fresh 230 COVID-19 cases detected in Sikkim, 186 cases have been detected in the State’s East district.
The other districts in Sikkim to report new COVID-19 cases are West – 17, South – 19 and North – 8.

What is most worrying is the fact that these new 230 cases in Sikkim were detected at a staggering positivity rate of 28.78 percent.
These fresh 230 cases have been detected in Sikkim after conducting tests of only 799 samples.
With the detection of these fresh 230 cases, Sikkim’s total COVID-19 cases tally has risen to 8698.
Meanwhile, Sikkim’s active cases tally stands at 1930.
On the other hand, Sikkim has also reported 1 more COVID-19 related death.
With this fresh death, Sikkim’s COVID-19 death toll has risen to 151.

Meanwhile, the Sikkim Government has imposed a 10-day lockdown to curb the spread COVID-19.
The lockdown will come into force from May 6 (Thursday).
Restriction on inter-State and inter-district movement of vehicles have also been put into place.
The Sikkim Home Department has stated: “The average test positivity for COVID-19 cases in the State has been more than 20% in the last ten days.”
