The Assam Government has issued a fresh set of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) keeping in mind the rising cases of COVID-19 in the State. 

As per the new set of SOPs, issued by the Assam Government, all shops and business establishments are to close by 2pm.

Moreover, night curfew will also be enforced in the State from 6pm. 

This fresh set of SOPs, issued by the Assam Government, will come into force from Wednesday (May 5). 

As per the earlier SOPs, market places and other business establishments were to close by 6 in the evening.

And, night curfew came into force from 8pm.

Moreover, “city buses, intra-district, inter-district and inter-state buses will operate will one driver and two passengers maintaining social distancing”.

“All offices both private and Government shall shut down at 2pm on all days,” the fresh SOP read.

“Except officers, only 50% employees can work from office,” the SOP added.

The fresh SOPs will come into force from 5 in the morning of May 5.

The Assam Government had to bring in more stricter measures in place owing to rising COVID-19 positive cases in the State. 

Assam on Monday had registered 29 new COVID-19 related deaths.      

COVID-19 deaths were reported from as many as 11 districts in Assam on Monday.      

COVID-19 deaths were reported from the districts of: Kamrup-Metro – 13, Dibrugarh – 4, Udalguri –2, Bongaigaon –1, Cachar – 1, Nalbari – 1, Kamrup–Rural – 1, Karimganj – 3, Sonitpur – 1, Tinsukia – 1, Goalpara – 1.      

Assam’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 1389. 

Moreover, Assam logged over 4000 COVID-19 positive cases on Monday.      

A total of 4489 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Assam on Monday.       

As many as 1645 cases have been detected from in and around Guwahati city.      

The other districts with high COVID-19 caseloads are: Dibrugarh – 460, Kamrup-Rural – 239 Nagaon – 201 and Nalbari – 201.

With the detection of these 4489 fresh COVID-19 cases in Assam, the State’s active cases tally has crossed the 26,000-mark. 

Assam, at present, has 26477 active COVID-19 cases.      

Assam’s COVID-19 positivity rate was recorded at 8.02 percent on Monday.  

The 4489 cases recorded in Assam on Monday were detected after conducting tests of 55939 samples.
