Sikkim Democratic Front (SDP) party on Thursday stated that the manifesto of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party for the election 2019 was the total photocopy of SDF manifestos of previous elections.

The party stressed that the announcement of the SKM party to fulfil some promises within 100 days of the government formation are totally impractical and deceitful and are just ‘false promises’.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, SDF spokesperson Bhim Dahal stated that some announcements of the SKM party in its 2019 election manifesto and the statement of SKM president PS Golay made during the release of the manifesto was very ‘contradictory’.

Dahal added that Golay still continues with his lies to deceive the people of Sikkim.

He also stated that Golay’s claim of the debt of around Rs 48,000 crore to the State was another lie.

Dahal stated that the government takes soft loans in a low interest to use it for the people of Sikkim.

He added that even the developed countries in the world take loans to work for the people of their nation.

He stated that SKM party has again deceived the people by showing the false amount of loans.

Speaking on the Universal Basic Income programme of SDF party, Dahal stated that the claim of SKM president that SDF has not been able to implement the UBI in the State shows that the concept of the UBI was very high for SKM party and its leader to understand.

He asserted that SKM party cannot even think or work on this concept.

Speaking on the issue of tribal status to eleven left out communities of Sikkim and seat reservation for Limboo and Tamang in the State Assembly in SKM manifesto, he stated that SKM does not have the moral right and responsibility to talk on these issues by working against the interest of the majority populations of Sikkim.

He added that SKM MLAs worked against the interest of the majority communities of the State by asking seats for Limboo and Tamang from the existing 32 seats.

He stressed that it was a great injustice for the majority communities of Sikkim. He alleged that SKM party has been speaking for SIBLAC and SIBLAC has been preparing programmes for SKM.

SDF spokesperson KT Gyaltsen stated that SKM party keeps on trying to mislead and deceive the people of Sikkim by repeatedly changing its statement and argument regarding the contest and CM candidature of PS Golay.
