GANGTOK: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Northeast state of Sikkim has restored the old pension system.

The announcement of restoration of old pension system for the Sikkim government employees was made by chief minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay.

Sikkim CM PS Tamang-Golay, on Friday (February 09), said that state government employees, who were appointed on or after April 1, 2006 will receive the benefits of old pension system.

With this, Sikkim has become the first state in the Northeast to announce restoration of the old pension system (OPS).

The Sikkim chief minister made this announcement during the State Level Temporary Employees’ Convention held at Public Ground Rangpo.
