Addressing a press conference in Gangtok on Tuesday, 50-year-old Subba stated that the competition would be very tough among the selected ultra runners of the country.
“To compete with young runners at this 50 years of age would really be tough for me, but I have been trying to motivate and encourage young generation by taking part in such tough challenges.
“If an old man like me can do than young generation has more potential to do better in their life,” he said.
He urged young generation to live a healthy and productive life and to give their contribution to the society.
As a part of his preparation for the competition, Subba recently ran on hilly terrains in West Sikkim and covered 67 km in 10 hours.
He expressed his confidence to break his own record of 24 hours to stand on a better place this time.
He informed that for the first time International Association of Ultrarunners has also been associated with the competition.
He added that this association not only make the competition international but would also open doors for Indian runners to participate in the international level ultra marathon.
“This would be a learning experience for me to run with international ultra runners and I would give my best to keep the name of my State and the country on the top,” he said.
