Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) spokesperson MK Subba has demanded the state government to immediately set up the COVID-19 testing facility in the interest of the people.
Lashing out on the State government on not being able to set up any testing facility in the state, he requested the Sikkim Governor to intervene in the matter.
Speaking to media persons in Gangtok on Sunday, Subba lashed out on the state government for not being able to set up the COVID-19 testing facility in such a pandemic situation.
He alleged that in his recent video conferencing with the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister has totally failed to properly address the testing facility issue.
He further alleged that the state government was not so seriously concerned to have its own testing facility in the State.
SDF spokesperson mentioned that the Prime Minister has been asserting on the testing, tracing and quarantine to address COVID-19 but the CM has been failed to appeal the PM for the testing facility in the state.
He alleged that the government has not been able to strictly follow the Disaster Management Act to set up the testing lap in the State for COVID-19.
He expressed that following the fund constraints the government may not be able to set up the testing facility as it has been failed to show the relief fund for COVID-19.
He expressed that it was very surprising that instead of giving relief to the people in such a situation, the people are giving relief to the government.
He mentioned that the state has an emergency fund in the State Bank of Sikkim, which he said could be used to set up the testing lab.
