Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheswari has been appointed as the new Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court.

Justice JK Maheswari was earlier serving as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, current Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court Arup Kumar Goswami has been transferred to the High Court of Andhra Pradesh as its Chief Justice.

The swap of the two Chief Justices of the two High Courts follows recommendations from the Supreme Court Collegium.

Born on June 29, 1961, Justice JK Maheshwari before serving as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh was also a Judge at the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

He hails from a small town in Madhya Pradesh named Joura in Morena district.

He was a practicing lawyer in Gwalior before he got elevated to the bench.
