Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling visited the site for the upcoming Gyan Mandir at Gangtok on Friday which is being undertaken by the Building and Housing Department.

The Chief Minister inspected the site and instructed the departments concerned to work with full dedication so that the vision of the state government to create an environment open for intercultural learning and exchange of intellectual wisdom can be achieved. He asked for full cooperation and said such assets will be the pride of the state.

‘We should work hard with sincerity and commitment,’ Chamling said.

The total proposed area of the upcoming Gyan Mandir is said to be 2.36 acres where 21 per cent is allotted to construction work and the remaining will be used for natural beautification purposes. The Gyan Mandir is said to house an estimate of 20 lakh books (manuscripts and documents both in hard and electronic form) and the first phase is scheduled to start from this month itself.

Minister Energy and Power Department, Minister UD& HD, Secretary Building and Housing Department, Secretary UD&HD, Mayor GMC and officials of concerned Departments were also present.
