Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad on Sunday felicitated a team of six members comprising of four National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers and two officials from Sports and Youth Affairs department at Raj Bhawan in Gangtok.
This was informed in a press communique issued by the Raj Bhavan.

The Sports and Youth Affairs secretary Dr R K Tamang was also present on the occasion.
The team had represented the State in the Republic Day parade at Rajpath in New Delhi in the last two years.
It is customary to have the volunteers felicitated by the Governor every year once they represent the State in Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.

The Governor expressed his pleasure on meeting the volunteers and conveyed his blessings to the team members and volunteers in particular.
He stressed on the need to inculcate the community leadership among the youths and volunteers and added that NSS provides the right platform for youth to understand the country, its history and its diverse heritage.
The Governor urged the student volunteers to make use of their time to excel in the chosen field and fulfil the expectation of parents, society and the nation at large.
Dr R K Tamang, on the occasion, apprised the Governor about the activities sponsored and supported by the State Government with regard to NSS.
