A big contingent of Sikkim Olympic Association has left to represent the state in the 1st edition of North East Olympic Games 2018 to be held from 24-28 October at Imphal on Sunday.

Sikkim is participating in Archery, Athletes, Badminton, Boxing, Football (men and women), Karate, Table tennis, Taekwondo, Weight Lifting and Wushu Toalu (women) and Wushu Sanshoia (men).

The State contingent is comprised of 141 players, 13 coaches, 11 managers, 7 technical officials and 5 delegates. The team is accompanied by president, BK Roka and general secretary, Jaslall Pradhan as officials and Kuber Bhandari as chef de-mission, BB Subba as deputy chef de-mission and Dawa Tamnag as observer.

While expressing his best wishes to the State team members, State Youth Development Board Chairman, Khem Prasad Dahal encouraged the athletes to maintain a good discipline and to bring laurels for the State with their performance.

SOA president expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for his support. He also thanked the Secretary of Sports & Youth Affairs Department, SD Dhakal for providing financial grant for sending the Sikkim Contingent for the North East Olympic Games.

The first ever North East Olympic Games will have the participation of all top ranking players of the North Eastern States as per the Olympic Charter.
