In another twist to the Sheena Bora murder case, the defence lawyer claimed that Indrani’s Mukherjea’s former secretary, Kajal Sharma was threatened by the CBI to give a fabricated statement or face conviction.

Sharma, however, told the special court on Thursday that this was not true.

On the last day of her cross-examination, as the third prosecution witness in the case, Sharma was questioned by advocate Shrikant Shivade, representing Indrani’s husband and co-accused, Peter Mukerjea, according to an Indian Express report.

Shivade had reportedly told the court that Sharma had been taken to the CBI office and interrogated for four hours, during which she was told that she would be implicated in the case as an accused if she did not give a statement.

Sharma, who began deposing in the case from April, faced questions ranging from her knowledge on computers, Skype accounts and her former boss, Indrani, according to the report.

Earlier, the CBI claimed that Indrani had made Sharma sign as Sheena Bora on a resignation letter and a leave and license cancellation letter, sent to her landlord.

Kajal had earlier told the court that when Indrani approached her with instructions to forge Sheena’s signature, she had initially refused but later agreed when she was told that ‘Sheena was then in the United States and did not have internet access to send her resignation letter’.
