Seven persons have been arrested in the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) and tiger skin and bones were seized from their possession, officials said on Saturday.

The alert guard and officials of the park recovered the tiger bones and skin from Kohora, officials said adding that the skin is of a Royal Bengal Tiger.

“We believe that he Royal Bengal Tiger was killed at Korjutpahar of Karbi ANglong,” officials said.

Meanwhile, Forest Minister Parimal Shuklabaidya appreciated the effort put forwarded by the frontline staff as well as the officers of the forest department in protecting the wildlife and said that the arrest also became possible as the government has been increasing manpower in the Kaziranga national park.

He said that the BJP government in Assam have ensured that there is no political intervention in the functioning of the departments particularly in forest department which has encouraged the officers and frontline staffs to work with dedication.
