In line with the ‘Act East Policy’ of the Central Government, the Arunachal Pradesh Department of Tourism in association with the Indian Embassy in Thailand organised a ‘Tourism Road Show’-cum Conclave at the Siam Kempinski Hotel in Bangkok (Thailand) on Monday.

The road show was organised to sell the beauty and potential of tourism of Arunachal Pradesh in the South East Asian countries, a press release informed. The State’s Tourism Director, Kanto Danggen, said the conclave is dedicated exclusively for Business to Business (B2B) interactions which offer a unique networking opportunity to the tourism and travel industry personnel of Arunachal Pradesh to establish business with the tourism industry players of Bangkok.     Informing that the State of Arunachal Pradesh with its diverse topography and tribal culture has immense potential in tourism, Danggen said the Road Show is an initiative towards bringing tourism stakeholders of Thailand and Arunachal Pradesh under one umbrella.

“Even though we have cultural similarities and our nations are close to each other, we are still not being able to take advantage of each other’s resources in terms of promoting tourism so far,” Danggen said. Stating that the Act East Policy will be a game changer for the north-eastern part of India, the Director further informed that Arunachal Pradesh is undoubtedly an upcoming adventure tourism hotspot as it is predominantly covered by forest, lofty mountains, rivers, varied flora and faunas, etc.

Indian Embassy, Thailand Charge d’ Affaires Abbagani Ramu said Arunachal Pradesh is a pristine and beautiful State where development has not affected its natural beauty till date. Informing that culture and tradition of the State is very close to that of Thailand, he urged everyone to visit the State and enjoy its beauty.

Tourist Information Officer, Takom Kena, in a power point presentation highlighted that Arunachal has many breathtaking places which are yet to be explored. Kena also informed the gathering about various traditional, music and adventure festivals that take place in the State every year.

A B2B meeting was also held between the tour operators of Arunachal Pradesh and Thailand on the same day. Among others present on Monday’s road show were Tourism Deputy Director Gedo Eshi, TIO Bishal Aran, Department of Youth Affairs Adventure In-Charge Romeo Meitiei and various tour operators led by Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators’ Association president John Panye, the release added.
