Former Union minister and BJP member Ramesh Bais and former Intelligence Bureau (IB) special director and former deputy national security adviser (NSA) RN Ravi have been appointed as the governor of Tripura and Nagaland respectively.
While Bais has been appointed as the governor of Tripura, replacing Kaptan Singh Solanki, Ravi, who also served as Naga peace-talk interlocutor, has been appointed as governor of Nagaland, replacing PB Acharya.
The announcement was made in a statement released by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday.
“The appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices,” the statement said.
Ravi has an expertise in Northeast affairs as he was looking after the region during his tenure in the Intelligence Bureau from where he retired as special director in 2012.
Ravi is currently serving as the chairman of joint intelligence committee (JIC) of India.
