The newly appointed minister of state for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju on Friday said that he will serve the country with utmost dedication.

Along with the independent charge of the Sports and Youth Affairs, the former junior Home minister was also named as the minister of state for Minority Affairs.

Rijiju stated on his official Twitter handle:

‘I have taken charge of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. I also took charge as Minister of State in the Ministry of Minority Affairs. With utmost dedication I’ll deliver as per the expectation of PM @narendramodi ji and the people of India.’

Rijiju had replaced Summer Olympics silver medalist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore as the sports minister.

The former minister of state of Youth Affairs and Sports also congratulated Rijiju through his new post on Twitter.

Rathore tweeted:

‘I ws a sportsman1st & Sports Min. later. I wrkd wid an athlete’s temperament 2 do best 4 Indian sports Fortunately I hd a captain like Modi Ji & a gr8 team @IndiaSports & @Media_SAI who helped mk a diff. Here’s to sports, here’s to @KirenRijiju is best suited 2 tk mission fwd.’

Rijiju also thanked Rathore and promised him that he fulfill the visions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and work for the development of the country.

Rijiju tweeted:

‘A Soldier, 1st Indian to win Olympic Silver Medal to Sports Minister of India you inspire millions. A salute to my friend @Ra_THORe ji. As a colleague we will together fulfil the visions set by our leader @narendramodi ji to take India to greater heights. Youths are our power.’

Rijiju, 47, who is BJP‘s face in Northeast, had served as the minister of state for Home Affairs in the earlier Modi government.

He won the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 from the Arunachal West seat. This was his second consecutive win from this constituency. Rijiju defeated Congress candidate and former chief minister Nabam Tuki by a margin of 1, 67,132 votes.
