Insurgent-turned-politician Hagrama Mohilary has offered to send 500 Bodo youths to counter the situation that followed in Jammu & Kashmir, particularly after the Wednesday’s terror attack by Jaish-e-Mohammed that left 44 CRPF jawans killed and over a dozen injured.

Mohilary, who heads the Sixth Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, said this while interacting with media persons at Kalgaon village under Tamulpur in Baksa district.

Mohilary was visiting the house of Moneswar Basumatary, the CRPF jawan who was killed in action during the Jaish-e-Mohammed’s terror attack on a CRPF convoy at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir.

“We are ready to send 500 Bodo youths to Jammu & Kashmir to face the situation created by the terror attack of Jaish-e-Mohammed. If the Central government allows this, we will send them. The salary of these youths will also be paid by the BTC administration,” said Mohilary.

It may be mentioned here that Mohilary had led the Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT), the dreaded armed outfit who fought for an independent Bodoland. In 2003, the then Central Government signed Bodo Accord with the BLT and a territorial council was created granting autonomy under the Sixth Schedule for development of the areas under the council.

Mohilary also announced an ex gratia of Rs five lakh to the family of Moneswar Basumatary.

Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced an ex gratia of Rs 20 lakh to the family of Basumatary.
