New banknotes of Rs 20 denomination in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series will be released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) soon.
The apex bank made it clear that all banknotes of Rs 20 denomination issued by the RBI in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender.

The new Rs 20 note will bear the signature of RBI governor Shaktikanta Das. The motif of the Ellora Caves is on the reverse of the new denomination thus showcasing the country’s cultural heritage.
The apex court informed that greenish yellow is the base colour of the note.

The note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse. The dimension of the new Rs 20 note will be 63 mm x 129 mm, the statement said.
