In a bizarre incident, a man, whose minor girl was raped by a culprit on Wednesday at Bogolaura village near Bilashipara Sadar in Dhubri district, committed suicide on Thursday.
According to sources, a minor girl, who has been studying in Class VII, was raped by one Ajijul Hoque on Wednesday afternoon.
Sources added, “The accused first kidnapped the victim and kept her at Koimari, a hilly area where he had raped her.”
Sources also informed that after committing the crime, the rapist took her to Hajaripara at Bilashipara where he again raped her.
However taking advantage of darkness, the victim somehow managed to flee from the clutches of the rapist and reached her home. After reaching her home, she had revealed all about the incident before her family members, sources added.
“As the father of the girl came to know about the news of his minor daughter’s rape, he was shocked and failing to accept the incident easily and out of shame, the frustrated man committed suicide by hanging from a tree near his home,” added sources.
A police team rushed to the spot on Thursday and started investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem.
The case is under police investigation. The All Bodo Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) has demanded capital punishment to the accused after arresting him as soon as possible.
