Following the Advantage Assam: Global Investors’ Summit, which was held in Guwahati on February 3 and 4, implementation of industrial projects worth Rs 3782 crore have already been grounded in the State under Industry and Commerce Department.

Similarly, preliminary investment works for different projects under Tourism, Agriculture, Health, etc. departments have also been initiated.

This was informed to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal by officials of different Government departments during a review meeting of the implementation status of investment proposals which were inked at the Global Investors’ Summit.

It is to be mentioned that altogether 264 MoUs worth Rs. 78,208 crore and investment commitments worth Rs 19,950 crore were signed during the summit.

Chief Minister Sonowal while reviewing the progress of implementation of projects emphasized on ensuring ease of doing business to ensure hassle free environment for the investors at field level and directed the Industry and Revenue departments to work jointly to settle land issues.

He also stressed on taking the local people into full confidence while setting up industries at areas falling within the industrial corridor and state capital region.

Sonowal also advised the departments to consult the farmers, youth representatives, various local organizations etc. to ensure seamless execution of the industrial projects.

Further underlining the State Government’s priority to ensure employment of local youth in the industries to be set up in the State, he directed the concerned departments to hold discussions with the industry houses.

He also stressed on the State Government’s commitment to make Assam a pollution free State and asked the Industry department to take necessary steps for identifying the industrial factors which could leave negative impact on the environment.

During the course of the review, officials informed the Chief Minister about the progress made in the consultations with the industrialists who have come forth to invest in the State.

Industry and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Additional Chief Secretary Ravi Capoor, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Sanjay Lohiya and senior officers of Government departments were present in the meeting.
