Fledgling political party PRISM has slammed the Mizoram budget as a vote bank budget and said it failed to ensure due budgetary share of various vital departments.
“The budget has grossly ignored several departments, it failed to ensure due share of budgetary allocations for development acquainted departments like health, rural development and power and electricity departments. Neglecting the vital sectors while allocating crores and crores of rupees for the party’s New Economic Development Policy (NEDP) is a clear indicator that the budget is election oriented,” PRISM alleged.

Mizoram budget was presented on Wednesday by finance minister Lalsawta. PRISM has issued a statement terming it “election oriented” and a “pro-corporate” exercise aimed at covering up the disastrous effects of the Congress government in Mizoram.
The budget had allocated Rs 750 crore for NEDP, the Congress’s party economic policy.
“To woo young voters, the sports and youth services department is being given a giant leap in the fund allocation; the budget also gave impetus to the autonomous district councils which was a manifestation of importance in buying votes,” the PRISM stated.

“The total liabilities estimated at Rs 7887.04 crore, we need new economic measures, but this election manifested budget has nothing but has given the ruling Congress to woo voters through NEDP in the pretext of development,” PRISM alleged.
