A girl student committed suicide in Tinsukia after her failure to secure good marks in the Higher Secondary Examination (HSSLC) 2019, results of which were recently declared by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).
The incident of suicide has taken place at Kathalguri are under Bordumsa police station in Tinsukia district.
The HSSLC candidate was a student of Digboi Women’s College.

According to police and relatives of the deceased, 18-year-old Luna Dohotiya, the daughter of Maniram Dohotiya, reportedly remained disturbed even before the announcement of the results.
She finally committed suicide after passing the examination in the third division which perhaps she was not ready to accept, said her family members.
“She drank killer pesticide meant for tea garden without the knowledge of other members of her family and ended her life without a second thought,” informed one of her neighbours.
Meanwhile, Bordumsa police, inspecting the site sent the body for conducting post-mortem.
Various students’ bodies including the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) and Gorkha students’ body expressed deep regret at the loss of a student’s life in such an early stage.
The demise of the student was deeply condoled in the area and her funeral was conducted on Sunday afternoon.
