Darrang Police in yet another major achievement arrested two notorious poachers including one from Nagaland during an operation.

The police, during the operation, also recovered one .303 rifle from their possession.

Addressing the media here on Monday, Superintendent of Police, Darrang, Sreejith Thiraviam said, “On Sunday at around 9.30 pm, a team of police headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Amit Hojai and Officer-in-Charge of Shyampur Police Station, Sub-Inspector Nipu Kalita conducted an operation at Rowmari Bazar area under Shyampur PS and arrested two rhino poachers.”

He also said, “The police also recovered one .303 rifle, one magazine, 5 live rounds of ammunition, one silencer, a bottle containing dark liquid, suspected to be tranquilizer and four syringes from the possession of the poachers.”

The arrested poachers have been identified as 40-year-old Sailendra Kemprai, son of Badoral Kemprai from Dhansiripar village of Dimapur in Nagaland and 32-year-old Khairul Jaman, son of Sasimuddin of village No 1 Langgia under Dhing Police Station in Nagaon district.

Darrang Police also on its official Twitter handle stated on Monday:  “Ambush laid in Rowmari under Shyampur PS on 07.10.18 by team of DySP (HQ), OC Shyampur PS led to arrest of 2 poachers & following recovered:
1. One 303 rifle, 2. One magazine, 3. 5 live rounds, 4. Silencer.”
