In its campaign for a plastic free Nagaland, the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, on Monday distributed bio-degradable bags to NGOs, Dimapur Municipal Council and administrative officers at the deputy commissioner’s office campus in Dimapur.

This was stated in an official press release issued later in the day.

The press statement further stated the biodegradable bags had been received under the Chief Minister’s Corpus Fund as part of the Plastic Free Nagaland programme.

Kevekha also handed over the Green Solution bags to the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce, Business Association of Nagas, East Dimapur Business Association, ADCs of Niuland and Medziphema, chief medical officer of Dimapur, Dimapur Municipal Council and office of the deputy commissioner of Dimapur.

After the distribution, he urged the people to use these environment friendly bags judiciously so that the use of plastic bags could be reduced to certain extent.
