The Manipur University that has witnessed high-voltage drama over the last 85 days of turmoil amid continuous protests is finally officially open for regular academic activities on Tuesday.

The in-charge Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, Prof W Vishwanath Singh through a release has declared that the University is now open after a long agitation of 85 days.

The Vice Chancellor through the release attributed full credit to the University community, the State and Central Governments and all the people of the State for their ‘dedicated and peaceful efforts’ to usher in normalcy in the University.

The in-charge Vice Chancellor also informed that the results of the sixth semester examinations of affiliated colleges and that of semester examinations of PG courses have been announced.

It was further informed through the release that admission processes for the MA and M Sc courses have also been initiated while adding that normal academic atmosphere in the varsity is gradually returning.

The in-charge Vice Chancellor also made an appeal to the University community in particular and the people of the State in general in help in establishing peace and co-operation and preserving the sanctity of Manipur University.

In a separate notification from the in-charge Vice Chancellor, it was informed that the headquarters of Manipur University is at Canchipur of Imphal and there is no provision for opening of a transit office outside the University campus as per Manipur University Act 2005.

It further stated that as per the office order no 218, dated September 3, 2018 issued by the registrar in-charge of the University, the orders issued for the transit office are termed as invalid.

“Therefore, all the teachers, officers and non-teaching staff who are supposed to work in the University campus should attend office in the campus for their official duties,” it added.
