The functioning of the Parliament has been paralysed for third consecutive day on Thursday with the opposition parties creating ruckus in the House.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned minutes after it reconvened after lunch at 2 pm. Opposition members have been raising the issue in the Upper House forcing the Chair to adjourn the House for the day.
A short duration discussion on farmers’ issues and MSP was to be held.
However, before the discussion could begin, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad requested for a reply by the Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the NRC issue.
The government agreed to his request. However, BJP MP Piyush Goyal raised an objection to the opposition’s double standards.
He said that they weren’t allowing BJP President Amit Shah to speak but were seeking a reply from the Home Minister.
“They are adopting double standard. On the one side they did not allow Amit Shah to speak over NRC and on the other side they are asking for reply,” Goyal said.
Continuing its protest over the NRC, the TMC MPs created a ruckus over NRC in the House that forced the Chair to adjourn for the day.
