The Nagaland People’s Front (NPF) and Nagaland Congress have come down heavily on the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the allegations of fraud against its president and cabinet minister Temjen Imna Along.
The NPF, Congress and several other parties have upped their ante against the state BJP president and demanded a thorough investigation into the episode, according to a report in EASTMOJO.
The report further stated quoting NPF spokesperson Achumbemo Kikon that if required, a CBI inquiry should also be instituted.
The report further quoted Kikon as saying that the BJP makes tall claims of zero tolerance against corruption at all levels, incidents of corruption have surfaced within the party.
Kikon was further quoted as saying that now the party should take stern action against such leaders at the earliest.
The report also quoted the NPF spokesperson as saying that either the minister clarifies his stand by submitting proper documents or should own responsibility.
Meanwhile, according to the report, leader of the opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly and senior Congress leader Debabrata Sakia has demanded that the case should be immediately handed over to the CBI.
Saikia was also quoted as saying that the son of BJP’s national president Amit Shah is also involved in several corrupt practices under the ‘very nose’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Along had allegedly submitted fabricated land documents to secure a loan of Rs 10 crore from the State Bank of India’s branch Old Market in Dimapur.
This was discovered by the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur after a complaint lodged by Dimapur-based Bright Home Society.
When the documents were summoned by the Deputy Commissioner, it was found that the jamabandi and final mutation order possessed by the bank were fabricated.
At the same time, the originals of the said documents were found to be in possession of Bright Home Society’s Aier which, on authentication, were found to be genuine, according the report.
