A three-day North East Youth Conclave on the Role of Youth in contributing towards a culture of peace and non-violence began in Tezpur University on Friday.

Organised by the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ), Tezpur University, in association with Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti (GSDS), Delhi, the conclave is attended by 150 youth representatives representing 18 different universities from the Northeast.

“You are the only community that can give peace a chance,” professor Abhijit Bora of MCJ department, Tezpur University while addressing the gathering.

The conclave was also attended by senior journalist Samudra Gupta Kashyap, Gulshan Gupta of GSDS along with faculty members of the university.

Addressing the gathering, Gupta emphasised on the point that each and every person is non-violent at the time of birth.

Kashyap, in his address to the students, said, “Once you put Gandhi in your heart, he will never go away.”

“Anyone and everyone can become a Gandhi,” he added.
