The host Manipur continued to top the medal tally of the ongoing 1st edition of NorthEast Olympic Games 2018 on the third day of the games on Friday.

The NorthEast Olympic is underway here at three different venues including Khuman Lampak sports complex since Wednesday.
Manipur bagged a total of 72 medals including 32 golds, 23 silvers, 17 bronzes. Assam overtakes Arunachal Pradesh to occupy the second place in the tally with 75 medals including 25 gold, 28 silver and 22 bronze while Arunachal Pradesh goes down to 3rdplace with 10 gold, 6 silver and 19 bronze medals.
Manipur, Assam and Arunachal was followed by Mizoram (G-5,S-6,B-21),Nagaland(G-3,S-4,B-19),Meghalaya (G-1,S-4,B-12),Sikkim (G-1,S-2,B-7))and Tripura (G-1,S-2,B-7).

Athletes from Assam also continued to dominate many competitions in Athletics at Khuman Lampak main stadium wherein Assam athletes bagged gold medals in men’s (Manoj Swargiari-59.38)and women’s (Pinky Brahma-36.22)javelin throw, men’s (Debakar Choubey)and women’s (Rimpi Buragohain) long jump events.
Silver medals in both men’s and women’s javelin were also bagged by Assam players (Arun Pradhan and Manorama Baruah).
The 4X100 relay race (women) title also goes to Assam Team. The Assam relay race team members include- Nibedita Barman, a student of MNC Balika Mahavidyalaya from Nalbari who clocked 11.95 sec in woman’s 100 metre race to become the fastest woman in the ongoing Games 2018 which is underway here.
Subarna Kalita of Assam becomes the fastest man in the Games who clocked 10.60sec in the men’s 100 metre race.
On the other hand, Nagaland Taekwondo player Keneilevo Nagi bagged a silver medal in the 74kg men’s competition while Kenesisao Thenuo bagged silver medal in individual Olympic round (men) while his colleague Kilen meren got a bronze medal.
The gold medal goes to Sanjay Boro of Assam. At the same time, Kevikeino Rikha bagged another bronze in 70+70 metres women’s archery competition.
The gold and silver goes to Himani Boro and Promila Daimary both from Assam. Four athletes from Nagaland managed to bag bronze medal in the 4X100 relay men’s race competition.
The NorthEast Olympic Games organised by Manipur Olympic Association began here with active participation of nearly 2000 participants from eight NE states including Sikkim to compete in 12 sports disciplines during the five-day event which will conclude on October 28.
The disciplines are archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, football, judo, karate, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting and wushu.
